2004 was the year Richard and Harriet Sessler began their extensive renovation project restoring both the old Church and Schoolhouse back to their original state.  Their hard work was awarded with the performance of a successful business operation, and then officially recognized when they received the Otsego 2000 Historic Award for saving these buildings and preserving their authenticity.  Being located directly between Cobleskill and Cooperstown, yet a very short distance from Cherry Valley, Sharon Springs, and even Oneonta makes this an extremely versatile location for many uses.  The Church was built in 1846, it has 10 stained glass windows, 10 curved oak pews, a turn of the century brass bell, lectern, organ, and piano.  This is an impressive structure to look at and it is completely restored.  A local opera group is using the building as a practice venue during the summer due to its excellent acoustics.   The Schoolhouse is where the restaurant was once located, but now is converted into a 2 bedroom home.  The old “Hallsville” Schoolhouse built in 1840 still has all its original doors, windows, and flooring in the school room. The later addition includes the bedrooms, and a galley style kitchen with brand new appliances.  Adjacent to the church, is a 70’x160’ lot where a house used to sit.  The church and schoolhouse share a brand new septic and leech field.  This is a rare opportunity to purchase an extremely unique property.

Terms: $10,000 due the day of the auction, balance due at closing.

Open Houses: Friday July 25 5:30 pm-6:30 pm, Friday August 1 5:30 pm-6:30 pm, morning of auction, and by appointment.
